The Department of Botany was established in 1998, started with a traditional course combining zoology and chemistry, under Sri. K. Sankararao as H.O.D.  This department implants scientific and experimental spirit in the students. The department develops personality development and scientific outlook among the students through certificate courses, exhibitions, field trips, project works, Internships, guest lectures etc. in addition to digital classroom and modern teaching.

The Department of Botany being an important branch of biological sciences offers immense opportunities for further studies in biotechnology, molecular genetics, bioinformatics, environmental science, forestry and other associated branches.
