The Government Degree College Palakonda, Srikakulam District was established in the year 1983. With the launch of this institution of higher learning the people of Palakonda and surrounding areas are throw open to the vistas of the realms of higher education. From a humble beginning this college is growing from strength to sub serve the cause of higher education in this backward area and is striving to attain excellence in the field of higher Education. This is the only Govt.Degree College in Palakonda revenue division to cater the higher education needs of the students spread over 9 Mandals of this District.
The college is situated in tranquil surroundings, almost at the threshold of Palakonda which is 55 Kms away from Parvathipuram Manyam Dist Head Quarters. It is about 100 Mrs. away from the state Highway and 36 kms away from National Highway (NH16). Within more than decades of its existence it is successful in training up young minds, mostly belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society to take up better future.
